Location: Los Angeles, California
Entrance Fee: That’s up to you, folks
Must-see: Hollywood Blvd., the Hollywood sign, Chinese Theater, In N’ Out Burger
LA has never been that appealing to me, but when you’re on a 2.5 week road trip and a friend offers you a spare bed and a shower, you just don’t decline. So, I’ll include it here. We stayed in Huntington Beach, just outside of LA, which turned out to be pretty fantastic considering it is right on the coast. Here is a quick overview of the highlights of this stop in our trip.
First stop: some bomb guacamole from a Mexican restaurant. California = avocados, right? IT WAS DELICIOUS.
Second stop: the beach. We found a quiet, almost secret beach called Table Rock that was just incredible. Huge navy waves smashed into the black rocks near the soft white sand, and we soaked up the California sun.
Third stop: In-and-Out Burger. Now, to some of you it’s just a burger, but in a state where I spent $8 on a DQ Blizzard, a $5 burger just tastes better. Try it animal-style if you want the real experience.
Fourth stop: Hollywood. We took a morning to explore the Chinese theater and a great record store called Amoeba Music. We hunted for the stars of our favorite celebrities on Hollywood Blvd. and took a peek at the Hollywood sign.
All-in-all a short but sweet visit.
